Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 pounds of pork spare ribs
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup of molasses
  • 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, brown sugar, onion powder, cumin, and dried thyme.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, and liquid smoke (if using).
  3. Place the ribs in a large, shallow dish and pour the sauce over the top, making sure to coat both sides of the ribs. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat your barbecue grill to medium-low heat (about 325°F to 350°F).
  5. Place the ribs on the grill, meat side up, and close the lid. Cook for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, turning the ribs every 30 minutes and brushing with additional sauce, until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
  6. Serve with your favorite barbecue sauce on the side.

Enjoy your delicious barbecue spare ribs!
